Before Solace Data, our founders ran their own businesses — and sold data from those businesses to AI data companies.

They found the material they'd produced over years — catalogues, documentation, written content — was genuinely useful for training AI models. They also found the process hard. It was unclear what they were allowed to sell, what should be removed first, how to price it, and what the buyer would do with it.

On the buyer side, the problem looked different but just as real. AI companies wanted exactly this kind of specialised data, but couldn't negotiate dozens of small contracts, and couldn't take on data without knowing where it came from.
